the ritual of tea

shop horne

My mom and I both agree that it's not really about the tea but rather the ritual. These teacups sure would make that ritual extra special, non?

Clearly I'm loving teacups these days...

tea party

I am totally enchanted by these DIY teacup favors, submitted by Mika78 and paperfinger, on 100 Layer Cake. They were originally used as bridal shower favors, but I think they'd be just as special for a private dinner party, corporate event, birthday party, or baby shower. Anything, really!

Hop on over to 100 Layer Cake to download the DIY instructions.

q&a

All your congrats truly warmed my heart. And thanks for the wonderful Q's! Now for the A's...
  • If you won a million dollars what's the very first thing you'd buy? Hands down, a plane ticket, or set of them, for a European vacation! I've had plans to go for what seems like an eternity, so hopefully I'll get there soon!
  • If you could choose any place in the world, where would you like to live? Of the places I've been, I would definitely pick Montreal, QC. It's absolutely gorgeous and has the most character of any city I've ever visited. Walking down those cobblestone streets feels like a fairytale!
  • What's the strangest and/or funniest dream you've ever had? Well, this may not be the strangest, but at the time it was the scariest. When I was younger, I would have this recurring dream where I was at the Wild Rivers water park and got pushed into a pool full of sharks! I have a serious fear of sharks, and I would always wake up right before they ate me alive. :) EEK. Oddly, I LOVE watching Shark Week...I just can't be IN the water with them.
  • Where are you student? In the lovely city of Boston, of course! I'm going to err on the side of confidentiality and not say what school, but I can say that Boston is one of the best college cities ever!
  • What is your all-time favourite film and why? It's tough to choose but I'd go with either Dirty Dancing or Bridget Jones's Diary. Those are two that I could watch over and over again!
  • What is your secret to staying fit? Workout regimen? I've been a huge fitness buff ever since the beginning of high school and some of my happiest times were playing soccer (14 years of it!). I also ran my first half marathon this past May, which was a huge accomplishment. But honestly, ever since then, I've been laying off the intense cardio and sticking to jogging and biking a few times a week. Ironically, easing up has done wonders!
  • What piqued your interest in graphic design? Since my teen years, I've wanted to work for a magazine. I'm now veering off that path but definitely attribute my affinity for layouts and graphic design to the many, MANY magazine clippings I did, and still do, collect. I'm all about structure, so layouts always catch my eye.
  • Where is your most favourite place in the whole wide world? You could probably guess this, but HOME. Though, home has now taken on a new meaning. Home to me is where my family is and where my boyfriend is. When I'm with the people I love, I'm happy!

I hope you learned a little more about the girl on the other end. :) Have a wonderful Thursday!

YIPEE!

My 100th post??! Holy moly. In honor of this "milestone," I'm putting this offer out there:

If you could ask me anything, what would it be? Feel free to pick my brain. :)

There you have it! Goodnight, lovelies!

A high of 74° on the first day of Fall? C'mon now, what's the deal? Let's make up for it with a little Fall color inspiration via Kate Beckinsale.

Thanks, babe.

The sandals are getting shoved to the back of the closet, and this girl is looking for some new comfys. I think these TOMS laceless Cordones will do the trick.

reuniting

my bff

Yesterday was all sorts of great. I...

...got a little bit of homework done.
...went on an energizing run.
...caught up with my BFF. (we went to high school together)
...went to dinner with friends.
...played Mancala and drank wine with my roomie.
...went to a non-sketchy party.

How was your Saturday?

Found: two, great website designs, courtesy of Alex. I would definitely classify these as nearing my aesthetic.

a fine october weekend

Last October, my parents, aunt, uncle, and close family friend came out for an East Coast vacation. Alex and I met them for a weekend in Newport, RI, which turned out to be one of my favorite vacations to date. We toured the mansions, explored the little downtown, enjoyed great meals with great company, and soaked in the views. A vacation at its finest.

taking it in

I'm trying to enjoy little pieces of beauty in the everyday...

fun convos with alex
artistic inspiration
flowery smells
fresh food
new musical finds
connecting with old and new friends
learning and liking my classes
fall approaching

...because I'm a little exasperated from this job search of mine. Things are getting more complicated than I thought they'd be. There are too many decisions to make. And it doesn't help that I'm naturally indecisive as it is.

What's your approach when it comes to making big decisions?

the digs

This is where I work and sleep! I tried to spice the room up with this Urban Outfitters tapestry I've had for years. Hey, it's a dorm. It'll do.

I also made the planner myself. Doodling is what comes out of boredom, and I'm happy it did! I'm super picky about my planners (insert 'type A' here), so I thought I'd save some money and make it MY way. It's simple, but it works!

I got the flowers from a nearby city garden. Is that stealing? :)
